Thursday 20-March | ||||||||
It was a big sightseeing day. We started the day by taking a local Bombay train - an adventure in and of itself. We then visited the Dhobi Ghats (or, Public Laundry) where supposedly most of Mumbai's laundry is done. Everything from individual family clothing to restaurant, hospital and hotel linens, to new clothes direct from the textile factories is laundered here in vats built by the British. From the laundry, we went to Chor Bazaar (or, Thieves Market) an insane market area full of antiques, junk and anything else. The next stop was for fruit at Crawford Market. From there we ventured to the Banganga Temple Complex, a peaceful area with a series of temples surrounding a large tank. | ||||||||
